I worked with the Chromosphere team as Lead Animator on the cinematic trailer for Klang Games' upcoming game, SEED. It was quite the sprint: around 40 animated shots packed into those first 60 seconds, with loads of unique characters, environments, and props!

I started on the project by completing layout of the camera and characters, working with our director Hugo Moreno to translate the compositions from boards to 3D appealingly, while also receiving guidance from the technical artists on our team to ensure the Unity sequence was being organized in a way that was modular and useful. During this time I also began wrapping my head around the shot setup process in Maya, and created documentation for onboarding the animation team.

During anim production, I divvied up shot assignments between three other animators and myself, chipped in with some minor creative feedback where helpful, and provided technical assistance for anything that arose as we all worked through our shots. I also handled the fbx “round-trip” for each shot: sending camera and character positions from Unity to Maya, then sending final anim from Maya back to Unity.

Oh, plus I was very happy to whip up a quick rig for the lil' newborn baby at 0:43!

The animation team on this trailer was Jackson Read, Rachel Reid and myself on the Chromosphere side, and Johnny Leal from Klang.
